Kayak, Canoe race on the Connecticut River, Vermont

End kayak and canoe season on a high note by competing in Vermont’s 3rd Annual Connecticut River Paddle Battle!

According to their web site:

This an end of the season event is designed to give everyone a great day on the river to bid summer goodbye for another year. The Paddle Battle is open to paddlers of all skill levels:

  • The serious racer will have a chance to unwind and spend some fun time on the river with colleagues.
  • The casual paddler can participate in an open class race or help with the river clean up.

Families are welcome. There will be a course set up and times will be kept, but the main objective is fun. There will be prizes, activities, educational opportunities, food, and music.

The event will take place rain or shine. The water will still be warm, foliage will be reaching its peak, and migratory birds will be passing through the area, so this is an ideal time to get out and enjoy the river.

Bike, Canoe or Kayak, Run – Massachusetts Triathlon Coming Up!

The 35th Great Josh Billings RunAground Triathlon takes place on Sunday, September 18, 2011. This Berkshires area bike, canoe or kayak, run event is open to teams as well as single competitors.

According to their web site:

The “Josh” is the 2nd oldest bike, canoe/kayak, run triathlon in the world!

The race begins in Great Barrington, Massachusetts with a 27-mile scenic and challenging bike ride through 5 towns, followed by a 5-mile canoe or kayak sprint around Stockbridge Bowl and is completed with a 6.2-mile run around the lake ending at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox.

The “Josh” combines the scenic beauty of the Berkshires with four exciting sports and the result is a great day of competition, fun and camaraderie. Following the race, the Great Josh “Bash” takes place at Tanglewood with music, food, festivities, the annual Kids Fun Run and awards.

The Josh has 36 categories divided into canoe and kayak divisions. Competitors may enter as part of a 4, 3 or 2 person team or as an Ironperson.
