Kayaking & Canoeing Festival in North Carolina

If you’re looking to enter a kayaking or canoeing race, take a guided leisurely paddle,  or attend canoe & kayak demonstrations and you live near North Carolina then you need to check out the 11th annual Edenton Music and Water Festival, Friday, June 19 – Saturday, June 20th 2009, in Edenton, North Carolina.

This festival sounds like fun for the whole family.

The festival starts with a Sunset Paddle on Friday evening. Saturday morning is the Eastcoast Flatwater Canoe & Kayak Race: 8 miles. Racing age groups are: youth 18 & under, Men, Women & Seniors.

The course is described as scenic flatwater race on Pembroke creek, Edenton Bay, & Queen Anne Creek.

There is also a leisurely paddle called the Eco-paddle, which is a non racing event for all types of canoes and kayaks. This is a guided leisure paddle that is approximately 4 miles long.

According to their website, there will be paddling demonstrations for all levels of paddlers, from beginner to experienced.  All equipment will be provided or you can use your own equipment. They will also be having guided paddle tours as well as sunfish sailing races.
