Kayak, Canoe and Paddle Event on the Shiawassee River, Michigan

Here’s a summer opener kayak and canoe paddling event to start the season in Michigan. Event has something for everyone – racers and casual paddlers too.

Sunday, June 5, 2011 · 10:30am – 5:30pm
Location: WaterWorks Park, 602 South Broad St, Holly, MI

According to their web site, they will have 3 racing classes and a Pleasure Paddle.

9th Annual Paddle Around Harsens Island – Aug 16 – Special Olympics Fundraiser

Paddler Eric Mueller of Harsens Island, Michigan is organizing his 9th paddling event to raise money for Michigan Special Olympics.

The particulars of the event and how to register:

What:   Challenging 23 mile course around Harsens Island (3 rest stops)
AND a Short Course of 6 miles down the South Channel (starts from main tour’s last rest stop)

Both races finish at the Idle Hour Yacht Club

When:   August 16
9AM Start – 23 mile course
2/3PM Start – 6 mile course
Registration is from 7 to 8:30AM, day of event

Cost:   $100 donation (additional donations accepted) for Michigan Special Olympics
