Mississippi Kayak, Canoe, Human-Powered Watercraft Regatta

Gator Bait Paddlers 1st Annual Reservoir Regatta Benefiting Barnet Reservoir Foundation is an event for racers and recreational paddlers alike.

Schedule of race day events:

7:00 AM – 8:30 AM Registration Check in.
9:00 AM Captains Meeting
9:30 AM Start the Recreation Boats
10:00 AM Start the Racing Boats
2:30 PM Awards Ceremony

The Gator Bait Reservoir Regatta is a 9 mile open water race across the Reservoir and back. The Race Benefits the Barnett Reservoir Foundation. Participants will row or paddle or pedal small boats in the reservoir starting from Pelahatchie Shore Park across the Reservoir and back.

Florida Keys Challenge

If you’re an experienced kayaker and you’re tired of the snow, you might want to check out the Florida Keys Challenge. This 30 mile paddle will take place over Presidents Weekend, February 18-21, 2011. It’s limited to 100 experienced paddlers.

The registration deadline has been extended to February 11th.

Battle On the Bayou, Ocean Springs, MS

The second annual Battle on the Bayou will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 on Old Fort Bayou in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

According to their website:

The race course is about 9.5 miles.

This race is a fun event for both competitive and recreational paddlers.

There will be a basic paddling class for non-racers and those who have never kayaked.

Battle on the Bayou is an ACA (American Canoe Association) affiliated event.

Buffalo Bayou Regatta, Houston, TX

The 39th annual Buffalo Bayou Regatta will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

The Buffalo Bayou Regatta is Texas’ largest canoe and kayak race.

According to their website:

The paddle race course is 15 miles along the scenic Buffalo Bayou.

This event is for competitive and recreational paddling.
