2011 Grand River Canoe & Kayak Race

Saturday, April 23, 2011.

According to their website:

This annual springtime tradition is an 8 ½ -mile canoe and kayak race from the Haperfield Dam to Hidden Valley Park (in Madison) on the wild and scenic Grand River.

Pre-registration is recommended.

The race will start at the Harperfield Covered Bridge Metropark, Harperfield, Ashtabula County and finish at Hidden Valley Park.

All canoes and kayaks must be properly registered with the state of Ohio.

Prior experience is mandatory.

This paddling race also has a Maddest Hat contest. Paddlers design a hat and wear it the entire race.

The Patriot Challenge

Charleston, South Carolina

Sunday, April 10th

According to their website:
All classes of kayaks, canoes, and stand up paddleboards are invited.

Recreational divisions and open divisions.

Competitive racers and recreational racers have a choice of two courses.

Three mile course:

Assault on the Ashley: This course begins at Brittlebank Park and goes one and one-half miles up the Ashley River, makes a left turn around a buoy, and returns down the river to the finish line.

Six mile Course:

Blast the Battery: This course also begins at Brittlebank Park and goes down the Ashley River towards the harbor, around the historic Charleston Battery and White Point Gardens to the Charleston Yacht Club on the Cooper River, and returns to the finish line at Brittlebank Park.

You must have your current ACA number documented on your registration form. Non ACA members will need to include five dollars for ACA event membership.

This is a kayak race & charity paddle. All proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project.
