Put together a team (or get matched up with other racers) and get in to the upcoming 7th Annual D.W. Field Triathlon in Brockton, Massachusetts! The historic park offers a unique and challenging course. And everyone will love the racer-friendly entrance fees…

Elite triathletes and eager tri teams alike will gather for the 7th time on September 25th 2011 at beautiful D.W. Field Park just a mile off route 24 at Exit 18b. It’s the perfect closer for your tri season and you can leave the wetsuit at home for this one.

The race features:

  • 14 mile bike,
  • 1.7 mile canoe/kayak,
  • 4 mile run

The leaves will be starting to turn and there may be a refreshing nip in the air – perfect racing weather! (And no cars to worry about on our enclosed loop course!) You’ll cycle up daunting Tower Hill, run beside sparkling lakes and ponds under a canopy of birch pine and oak trees, and paddle on Waldo Lake -the only day of the year that boats are seen on its shimmering surface!

Bike, Canoe or Kayak, Run – Massachusetts Triathlon Coming Up!

The 35th Great Josh Billings RunAground Triathlon takes place on Sunday, September 18, 2011. This Berkshires area bike, canoe or kayak, run event is open to teams as well as single competitors.

According to their web site:

The “Josh” is the 2nd oldest bike, canoe/kayak, run triathlon in the world!

The race begins in Great Barrington, Massachusetts with a 27-mile scenic and challenging bike ride through 5 towns, followed by a 5-mile canoe or kayak sprint around Stockbridge Bowl and is completed with a 6.2-mile run around the lake ending at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox.

The “Josh” combines the scenic beauty of the Berkshires with four exciting sports and the result is a great day of competition, fun and camaraderie. Following the race, the Great Josh “Bash” takes place at Tanglewood with music, food, festivities, the annual Kids Fun Run and awards.

The Josh has 36 categories divided into canoe and kayak divisions. Competitors may enter as part of a 4, 3 or 2 person team or as an Ironperson.
