Kayak & Canoe Race & Rally – Florida

Withlacoochee Wilderness Kayak & Canoe Race & Rally, Inglis, Florida.

 According to their website:

This paddling race & rally will be on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at the Buddy Risher Park in Inglis, Florida.

This event starts at the Inglis By-Pass Spillway of the Withlacoochee River and ends at the Winding River Park in Yankeetown.

The paddling race is 7 miles with categories for men’s kayak, women’s kayak and combined tandem for kayaks or canoes.

The rally is 5 miles and requires the participants to find clues and answer questions.

This paddling event has something for every kayaker in my family. We have competitive racers and paddlers who love to just relax and enjoy the scenery while paddling at their own pace.

The only thing that’s keeping my family from this event is distance. It’s just a little too far from my home to travel for a weekend event.

Yes, there are a few places that actually do not have a blanket of snow, just a few. So if you’re looking to get your kayak or canoe out of its storage space and looking to enter a whitewater kayak and canoe race then you need to travel down to Alabama to the Alabama Cup Racing Series.

The Alabama Cup Racing Series is made up of three races; the Locust Fork Invitational, Mulberry Fork Festival and Locust Fork Classic Race.

According to their website:

February 5th and 6th is the Locust Fork Canoe & Kayak Invitational at Kings Bend in Cleveland, Alabama.

March 5th & 6th is The Mulberry Fork Canoe & Kayak Race located near Garden City, Alabama.

March 26 & 27th is The Locust Fork Whitewater Classic.

The courses consist of about 25 gates, set on a class Il/lll rapids, and are approximately one hundred yards long.

The race courses are spectator friendly with walking trails beside the courses.

Check out their website for all the information you need to enter or watch this race.
